Craving that buttery, cheesy biscuit flavor? This easy biscuit substitute is inspired by the famous seafoodrestaurant favorite.
This low-carb biscuit substitute is our take on the beloved Cheddar Bay Biscuits—a buttery, cheesy favorite recreated with a carb-conscious twist.
2 1/2 cups butter powder
2 eggs
1Tbsp Baking Powder
1/2 shredded cheese
Other seasonings like garlic powder, dill, Italian herbs
Mix together with a hand mixer or fork. It will look dry, not a batter or dough. Scoop up a golf ball size and form into a ball. It is sticky, so food service gloves help.
Place on a parchment paper covered cooling rack over a baking sheet pan. Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes. Makes about 8 biscuits.
Per biscuit: 225 kcal · 3.4 g protein · 21.1 g fat · 6.0 g carb
Batch of 8: ~1800 kcal · 27 g protein · 169 g fat · 48 g carb
Used Augason Farms / Readywise-style butter powder (35 kcal per Tbsp dry)
Heads-up: these are mostly fat, weak on protein, and most of the carbs are lactose/milk solids in the powder — not “zero carb.”
I see butter powder in #10 cans (12 cups) on Amazon for about $35. I buy mine from Walmart for about $20.
